Blogging is just writing
That's right a Blog is just your ideas jotted into a page on the internet. It is usually an answer to a general question or an explanation of how to do something.
In this case, I am telling you how easy it is and the best way to go about it.
My qualifications come from knocking on the door of 80 yo with several decades in business and marketing so I have done my apprenticeship and learned the rules.
With nearly a thousand blogs behind me, I am starting to like the journey, said he, with tongue in cheek.
I recently coerced my wife, who has never understood what I do, to check the spelling and grammar in my older material. I am not good at either so it is really necessary. Finally, she understands the whole system and it is now just getting her to write. Nothing happens in a day.
Why would you want to blog
I started to share my knowledge with small business owners, many had no idea about internet marketing as the world went from Yellow pages to online press.
It also provides an outlet for social thought and to release some of my ideas to the world.
I am not a good orator, in fact, would lose most arguments being unable to respond quickly to a blustering flow of words from others. This is because I really can't be bothered with them and can usually see both sides of an argument. I am a shade of grey person so often won't take a stand.
However I do have a lot to say so have given writing books a go, blogging takes a lot of time but there is more to come in this old guy.
Blogging for seniors that have something to say

As we age we bring with us a lot of history, much of it forgotten by the young who have failed to experience a very different life that we grew up in.
Some of you were in the Military and served in operational areas. I understand you can't really talk about it for too long. The pain is still real the vision implanted somewhere in the back of your memory. You don't really want to address it but you should, not only for the readers that will never understand Vietnam but for yourself.
Maybe a farm life was your thing before the modern machinery made working the soil a breeze. Broad acres controlled by computers and harvested with monsters that would have a place in a sci-fi film.
Others have been part of the surging tide of financial roller coasters that gave and took back money as freely as the taxman.
Maybe you have worked in an industry that still needs support and change and you have the answers built on years of experience.
Those wanting social change have a platform to express their views in full without an argument destroying the pitch
Our needs are all different but we all have them to share.
The practice to make it happen
Don't laugh at me as I am currently doing exactly this in an attempt to lift my writing skills.
Like many of you, I am a two-finger keyboard warrior that needs to hunt out the letters so I am not asking for anything out of the ordinary.
Take 10 minutes a day and simply write on any subject using a computer keyboard. Just ten
undistracted minutes going as fast as you can. No phones, no emails no cups of coffee just write for 10 minutes and see how you do.
Do this every day for 30 days and you will see a massive gain in your skills and be set up as a blogger for life.
Making money is a sideline

Yes, you can make money as a blogger in several ways but don't think about it until you have some traction. It will distract from your writing.
Start by writing to your family, your friends, or long-lost comrades that you recall when situations arrive. We all have them in work and life that have affected our lives in some way.
To start we will use a site called Bluehost that has a very low-cost basis but is a high-capacity site that can grow with you.
We don't want to destroy your pension but contain those costs whilst providing a quality product that will not let you down.
When you start to explore the internet you will find many a scammer lurking around wanting to grab some of your money. Follow me and I shall keep you out of trouble. I have learned the hard way
Blogging for seniors that have something to say
How blogging differs from writing a novel
A blog takes the form of short sentences and short paragraphs taking the readers on a journey to answer a question or solve a problem.
You find a problem
Explain why it is interesting
Why and how they can fix it
Advise on what to do
And a quick conclusion
For those that want pretty, we throw in some color, a few pictures maybe a graph or list to explain what we are talking about.
Length is about 1500 words but less or more is ok there are no rules that say what you have to do.
Finding your work among the millions already on the market
A Google search simply looks for content by your heading. Therefore make your heading interesting and readers will come. It is called Keywords or keyphrases a lead about your subject.
You will not start out as an award winner and may not end up as one but you will have some fun along the way
Conclusion
My aim is to get you thinking which will lead to action and a way to keep you young for a few more years. We're not growing old it's too late we are already there but at least we can enjoy it while we are here.
