What is the shelf life of an internet Guru. The life is really very short because the information is very thin, a short journey of discovery.
What is an Internet Guru
Over the many years of my internet journey I have followed a lot of high class trainers that preach on every conceivable concept of internet interest.
I am sure you have been caught up in this either paying for training courses or following names that are famous and offer the free sermons.
Probably the best known is Tony Robbins the self help multi millionaire that still draws a crowd as new people are entranced by his appearance.
Tony Charges a cool million dollars a day to appear, so tickets cost from $1000 to $3000 but vary all the time.
For a million bucks you would want to learn something but most of us took him off the shelf years ago after listening to his self help preaching.
He is reportedly worth about $500 million so has done alright on the speaking tour.
Would I pay the money to see him? The training has aged so the answer is no.
Let's look at some more guru's
You can look up a lot more like Louise Hay and Robert Kiyosaki however they are a bit yesterday and we are past them too.
Russell Brunson rose to fame and indeed fortune on the back of click funnels. He has been copied by many others but when I see him I think another $200 a month. Don't get me wrong he has a huge following and a successful book but has slipped into the background of late with an income you can't jump over.
I confess I have both his books however not bought his product.
Ryan Deiss is the face behind email marketing and was CEO of Digital Marketing.com however he recently sold out and went solo in his career as a marketing speaker.
Ryan Deiss
Ryan Deiss is an entrepreneur, author, and investor and according to Shark Tank star, Daymond John, “His companies practically own the internet.” Or he is a great scammer that has the world confused?
I have his book the Invisible selling machine on the fundamentals of email marketing which I have used many times over.
Ryan follows his own rules and I still get an email nearly every day but they don't get clicked because of over supply which he readily agrees.
Ryan chatting with the world and it is interesting his top idea in todays market.
Newsletters are the pick of the day.
Gary Vaynerchuck
Gary is a self made millionaire with a reported $200 million in net worth. Garry Vee is well known for Facebook marketing and I know a friend who followed him and rose from a housewife to corporate adviser in just 12 months. The author of many books that have sold well. Personally He was too much for me and I had but a short bromance. He has released four books in 2020 so not quite off the shelf at the moment.
Your personal Guru controls a market segment
We will continue to more over hyped players in a few words down the page but what is evident here is that each market segment has its own hero. This is someone that follows the rules and gives you hope in a template.
What's more they present like they are on something illegal with fast words for hours on end.
They demand attention and have learned all the skills to attract your dollar. Furthermore they are basically honest in what they promote. Scammers get shown up quickly in most cases and all the above have risen above that. They are not all cheap however they have a ceiling on pricing so you are not taken to the stratosphere in up sells.
Every Internet Guru has a shelf live. The latest fad is often a good choice.
My current man crush
Every now and then someone different arrives on the scene, they want to help more than to sell, encourage more than push and generally just want to share their knowledge.
Now I will start by saying that Alex Becker is an entirely different beast. He claims to be exceedingly rich and famous yet lives a simplistic life style. So simple in that he sold all his assets and rents a small home as a base.
I still need a daily fix of Alex to really understand where he is coming from. Within many presentations is a vital lesson that can transform your thinking.
Yes he will probably wear thin but at this time he is the man of the moment.
Alex ‘s YouTube channel is at Alex Becker. Be warned you will loose a couple of hours when you press the button.
SEO is really important and Yoast is the answer
This is a simple plug in that tells you what you are doing wrong. If setup is a problem they are the answer. On the other hand when writing leaves you confused Yoast will tell you. When you want to do a course change to premium and be an expert in a short time.
Good SEO is necessary if you want to be successful.
Neil Patel rules the roost at this time
If you haven't heard of Neil come up for air and obtain a dose of enthusiasm, SEO, Keywords and niche building dominate his world. Most of his stuff is free however generally for the slightly more educated.
His Keyword tool is not bad and offers a lot of ideas for choosing a marketing niche.
I like Neil Patel because he is direct and not at all a scammer and furthermore not always hanging off your wallet,
What is the shelf life of an internet Guru and who is best? Your choice matters.
Wealthy Affiliate with Kyle and Carson
The training packages these two bring are still very current and I have invested time in being with them for a couple of years.
If you are new to the internet or just wanting a bit of knowledge this is certainly the meeting place of like minded individuals. You can get free training, or sign as a premium member and get a whole bundle of courses from starter to professional then go premium plus for life, training everyday of the week.
The best value in town without doubt.
Your learning experience must be good.
Just click on the image for a free entry into a great world.
Using forums that go the distance
Having been around for awhile I have joined many forums. These are designed to show common problems and how to overcome them.
However they generally concentrate on one area of the operation so if the problem is elsewhere you are left high and dry.
In fact I only use the Wealthy Affiliate forum now because it is multidirectional.
You can get answers on web problems, WordPress, blogging in fact anything you can think of.
There is always someone that has an answer.
We will agree that Google can often fill the bill but I have spent hours on a simple problem when support could have directed me in a better way.
I know I am plugging Wealthy Affiliate but they have web support, live Q, a Forum and training courses, the lot.
Wealthy Affiliate should be on everyone's list. This is training and web hosting at its best.
Which Guru is best on the internet?
It really depends on what you are looking for. As prior stated they tend to stay in a fairly narrow band and if that is your major find the best available. However you will certainly wear them out as you soak in your range of knowledge and move on.
The internet training arena has many niches and areas to play on.
Your secret to success is to be the best in a niche or small area of concentration. This applies equally to life as it does the net. You are never just an engineer, perhaps mechanical, electrical, industrial, chemical or civil to name but a few.
You will notice that most gurus have their area of expertise.
Choose your Guru wisely.
When they stop creating they go backward
We see it all the time particularly in training courses where they simply rehash the old stull. You will notice this in time and simply move away to a new playpen.
The Gurus I have listed have all done the test of time and are as relevant today as when they started. You need new material because the Internet changes like the weather.
Check the material date before you waste your time. For example if it was written several years ago without updates you may find something better.
Social media is a great example of change
Take Facebook as an example, from a College love into a highly charged advertising forum. The crowd stated as teenagers however they have moved on to new ways of entertainment.
Linked in became the Female go to however many seniors are now following on.
Then TikTok arrived and took kids for a drive.
To be in every place at one time is difficult so choose your vehicle carefully.
Concluding my Guru choice
This all started when I realized how many experts I had moved on from however I still had a man crush on Alex Becker, I want to be like Alex but it is only in my dreams. He is so different that it is hard to quantify.
Your learning curve should be concentrated. Choose your favorite and take a short journey until they are exhausted and you move on.
Boredom will set in so take as much as you can early in the adventure.
Thank you for reading.
