What to write about for my blog when I am stuck for ideas? This is a question you face every day but there is an easy answer.
Blog Writing ideas and a starting point
Today I wondered what to write about and that started me thinking. Why don't I follow my own advice and do it properly? Ideas come from many places, in the middle of the night, even in the middle of a blog inspiration can hit you.
However, this method is really hit and miss because it ignores Keyword selection and following a trend in what you are trying to convey.
The ideal starting point
To start your journey you should write down a list of twelve months worth of Keywords.
For some, it may be 50 others 350 but the number is yours and depends on how many blogs you will attempt this year.
Start with your major titles and then break them down into smaller bits.
- How to drive a truck.
- How to drive a Komatsu truck. Kenworth, GM, Ford, etc
- How to drive in summer, winter, snow, soft sand, night, day, Fog, rain
- Reversing techniques, passing methods, parking procedures
- Use of air brakes, hydraulic lifters, satnav, and Front seat adjustment.
When you think finding keywords is hard I just listed 20 in about three minutes without a lot of thought.
If you applied each of these to truck brands you are up to 100.
Finding keywords is not enough.
The use of Keywords in your page header will determine your ability to get a page one position. You need to find a balance between Traffic and competition to give you a competitive chance of success.
There are two ways you can do this to give you a starting point. There are actually hundreds of ways but these two will give you a start.
Use a Keyword Tool

Keyword tools are not the ultimate determination however they are a very good guide. I recommend Jaaxy which comes free with both Wealthy Affiliate and directly if you choose. There is a pro version however the free one will suit most of us.
You can not go head to head with the big guns. They have spent a lot of money with agencies to lock in page one positions.
Trying for Kenworth trucks will get you nowhere. However, Kenworth trucks painted blue, could be a different story.
Google knows everything
After you have had a look at possibilities and found a solution then check it on a Google search. See who is on page one and determine the chance of outdoing them.
Go to the bottom of the page and see the Google suggestion. They may provide clues to small changes you need to make.
The words shown in Google suggestions are ones that have traffic or Google would not suggest them. How much traffic and competition is one you need to look at.
Take Google a step further
If your Keyword selection is getting a bit thin you can change the search parameters to
- Buying a Kenworth
- Selling a Kenworth
- Adding airhorns to your Kenworth
And the list goes on.
If you are still looking for more type into Google How to drive a truck A or B or c and keep on going until you fill your bucket up.
Keyword selection takes time but pays dividends.
If you think this is hard then think about being on page five or ten of a search term, places where no one goes.
Google is not all hung up on exact match Keywords and in fact, moved towards user intent.
Using artificial intelligence (AI) Google thinks about what the searcher really wants. However, your Keywords still provide a direction for the thought process.
Gettingyour keyword right is half the battle won
Hang on Tiger (es) we are not quite finished here. On page one there will be a dozen different options for searches to choose from. Some will be paid options in the form of ads so the other eight or so will offer a choice. So how do you stand out?
The answer of course, is with a great Meta description. One that most closely matches what the readers is looking for.
You may also make a promise to help them or solve an issue and grab those eyes as they scan the list.
Intrigue works a treat when you get their mind working and wondering just what you have to offer.
The better your Meta the greater your chance of being clicked.
You have just 160 characters to write those words of wisdom.
What to write about for my blog and get read
This is my last and most important point of the blog.
When you have chosen a great Keyword, built it around a formidable heading and added a meta description that pulls the eyeballs to the page what can go wrong?
There are actually two things that can go wrong.
A slow page opening time | They will go away faster than they arrived |
Not Mobile fiendly | Make sure you check this |
In Fact I took out all my featured images and dropped them down the page to increase my speed. Maybe a bit excessive but speed is right up there on the Google list of necessities.
Most programmes will prepare you for this but avoid large images and close knit links that blend together .
Conclusion
This is a pretty important subject so take note of what has been written because it will affect your page position.
Use Keywords properly
Use a keyword tool and Google to check suitability
Make your Meta Shine
and avoid slow opening times.
The rest is easy LOL.
