Amazon is a pain in the neck. Besides the super low commissions, they suspend your account if you don’t make three sales during the first six months. For someone just starting out, this can be an unrealistic task. Making your site grow takes time, way more than six months for sure.
I remember reading somewhere that the ideal ticket is between $50 and $200. It’s hard to place high-ticket products, but the commissions you earn from that are quite significant.
Another thing that might help is focusing on products with inelastic demand, meaning products whose demand is relatively unaffected by price changes (meds, cigarettes, etc).
