There are many different reasons for blogging however they generally answer a question or explain something that people want.

So blogging is just the action word ( Verb) off to blog and is the same thing.

Blogs are a part of a web page and called Posts by WordPress, the free software that most bloggers use.
A page is a fixed item that opens the same every time and may have access to other pages.

Blogs are not used for direct marketing, they are there to answer questions or solve problems that people experience. However, they will contain links to other sites to do the heavy lifting.
How do readers find your blog amongst the billion other ones on the market?
A good question indeed and whilst you may think it impossible it is actually quite easy.
Search engines like Google and Bing look for the most likely answer to what you want to know or understand. This may be by typing in a question or even using your mobile phone for a Voice search like “What is web blogging?” you could well end up on this page or one close to it.
This is done with Keywords so Google finds content that most resembles your search term and takes you there.
There are, however, easy words and hard words.
Blogging would have a lot of competition and a bundle of traffic and would be hard to rank for whereas “What is web blogging? ” is a long tail word or keyphrase.
For the word blogging, there may be a hundred pages of content however for a more specific description there may only be a few pages.
We find these answers on web tools like Uber suggest or Jaxxy that tell us traffic and competition so we can carefully craft a keyword.

Therefore we throw in nice pictures, a splash of color some lists and graphs, and an authority link to a higher power.
For instance, if you were writing on medical issues you would quote a Doctor or well-known medical magazine as a source of information. This shows you have done some research and not just gibbering on.

Readers come from many sources and not just a Google search.

Therefore you can build up a considerable volume of traffic and have Google give you a bit more recognition. Google loves traffic as it proves that people want to read your stuff and respect what you are writing.
