What exactly is a URL

First of all, it is known as a web address, a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is a form of URL and a standardized naming convention for addressing documents accessible over the Internet and Intranet.
Furthermore, Wikipedia has a go at confusing us as well.

It is your web address (www.) and where you can be found on the world wide web. It is now often headed with your file transfer protocol HTTPS. or the old unsecured version HTTP. instead of www.
In addition, it may also show a country code to announce where you are. We currently have https://www. yourname.com.country (if out of the US).(optional )

However, I don't want to go on because we all have a basic understanding of this. To clarify this, a few points to consider that are vital to the outcome.

  • No two addresses can be the same
  • Your address needs to be approved first
  • You can use your name, brand, or product
  • dot com is different from net, gov, info, etc
  • Searches can be taken to a post on a blog
  • Every URL can be shortened or cloaked
  • SEO is affected by your choice of URL
  • They can be attached to a specific image
  • And used in emails and other forms.

In addition, you must understand the URL, keywords, and the SEO structure intimately to have a chance of success

The use of keywords with a URL

marketing-and-business-online

Keywords and the URL are interlinked in that your URL may not represent what people search for.
For example, I have a site CoachHanley.com that only those that know me will search. However, my page on Multilevel marketing may draw readers to my URL.
https://coachhanley.com/multi-level-marketing/

Importantly I have used this example to show how my name is used, what I do, and an appropriate link to a post. This is to build the structure of an SEO search with an appropriate URL.

We are growing this with Longtail keywords

As names become more common, search terms have expanded to meet more specific demands.

https://nike.com is a URL that also includes the brand of the company.
If, however, we want to find a specific shoe we can be more constructive: Nike.com/mens/basketball/highrise/boots or a specific page https://www.nike.com/t/lebron-17-monstars-basketball-shoe-CR7772/CD5050-400

While this is a keyword, it will take you to the nike.com site

The expansion of your URL is a factor in better SEO because google understands exactly what the searchers want. Naturally, there is less traffic however the quality is superior and the completion greater.

70% of all search results use longtail keywords.

Can you make longtail keywords shorter?

The more concise your search terms are, the better SEO will deal with it but we humans do get bogged down and mistype half the words.

Along comes “The Cloaker.” the magic warrior of URL Shortening to save the day.

The Link shortener simply hides all the words into a simple phrase.

We use and recommend Pretty links a WordPress free plugin that makes your life simple.

Here the keyword The-best-free-URL-shortener becomes a simple word “Cloaker”

This can be found at https://onlinebusinessmarketing.info/cloaker
When searching that site you will see the real URL at the top. I know what you want, Google finds it and you are happy, what's not to love?.

Pretty links are designed to shorten your Keywords, record all activity and make it possible to do it once and do it properly.

URL structure ezplained

This is an example of a pretty Links record. This link will take you directly to my affiliate entry however you don't see this. On this one, you can see that 160 people have clicked on the link.

If I use this Pretty link on many of my pages and I want to make a change I simply change the link. All the pages will then be updated saving me many 404 errors

This is an interesting part of the keyword structure. Google ignores what they call “stop words.” and they are not considered in SEO.
Words like the that, what, why, and how are examples of words that make a keyword longer than it should be.

A Keyword “The truth about link shortening and SEO” could be reflected as Link-shortening-SEO for the same result as Google however it is easier for readers

Inserting hyphens into words

Or underscores, Hyphens support SEO. This is because Google understands intent and the hyphen makes it clear. Underscores not so and should be left to others.
For example Chat-room or well-defined.

To summarise URL's and SEO

With your Keywords, two critical inputs must be understood.

Traffic and competition
To clarify, I will say that too much of either of these and you won't be found and that is why you need a tool to provide the answers.
Furthermore, without direction, you will never be read

This is an important issue and it is worth reading more on the best keyword tool to understand the subject

The tool guides you to an appropriate choice that provides a chance of successful selection.

In conclusion,

This has been a hard blog to write as I have tried to place enough emphasis on the necessary elements without going too deep.

However, the experienced blogger should gain from the second half and the new writer from it all.

Likewise, the two tools I introduced in Pretty links and the Keyword tool should be with everyone and used daily.

My tips on building links come from informed sources that should also be used. That is to say, they will enhance the writing of all bloggers
