Your Keywords problems and 9 super easy fixes

Your Keywords problems and 9 super easy fixes The selection determines your fate so be precise in the first place and win the game.

9 little changes to make a big difference to your keywords

  • Use common words
  • Plus uncommon words
  • Then emotional words and power words
  • Character count is important
  • Word count is critical
  • Beginning three and last three words tell the story
  • Be positive
  • Use numbers
  • Apply a list

This is only a starter and we will dig a lot deeper as you read down the page. However the rules may be golden but they can be tarnished and still achieve a result.

Finally It is not an exact science but one of trial and understanding as you increase your learning and sort out fact from fiction. Not everyone agrees to the rules and Google works on results so tread carefully.

Using common words in your header

Headlines with 20 to 30% common words are more likely to be clicked.
In the above example “Your” and “and” form my common words to a 20% balance.

Using Uncommon words attracts the readers attention and starts a thought process. In my page I have no uncommon words but perfection is hard.

The same with using emotional words and using emotion will drive more clicks

Feelings and Emotions Vocabulary Word List

  • acceptance. admiration. adoration. affection. afraid.
  • beleaguered. bewitched. bitterness. bliss. blue.
  • calculating. calm. capricious. caring. cautious.
  • defeated. defiance. delighted. dependence. depressed.
  • eager. earnest. easy-going. ecstasy.
  • fascinated. fatalistic. fear. fearful.
  • generous. glad. gloating. gloomy.
  • happiness. happy. harried. homesick.

Power words solicit action

marketing-and-business-online

In my case the power word is “easy” You must have at least one in a Keyword

Power words are persuasive, descriptive words that trigger a positive or negative emotional response. They can make us feel scared, encouraged, aroused, angry, greedy, safe, or curious. Authors, copywriters, and content marketers use “power words” to spice up their content and compel audiences to take action

It is my belief that Power words really bring the readers attention to a reality and understanding and at least one should be in every headline.

However the word count should be about six words to add balance to the header.

This bit is important because the search engines generally look at the first and last three words.

YOUR KEYWORD PROBLEMS and SUPER EASY FIXES explains the header very well.
It is very common to get this wrong and I have reviewed many former posts with more understanding of the direction I should have taken. I will show some examples later of posts that have worked and why.

A positive sentiment

Again an important issue, no one wants negativity in fact in a recent report it was stated.

In BuzzSumo’s survey of 100 million headlines published between March 1st and May 10th, 2017, they found that the 3-word phrase (trigram) “will make you” get double the Facebook shares of the second most popular trigram.

BuzzSumo's

This is not could or May or even might it is positive in It Will make you.

Finally we come to lists in headlines

Email reports to make a massive shift in results

My “9 easy fixes is a list” and on average a list will get a bundle more hits than the average headline.

Others are How to, awe, re-courses, questions or heart to heart headings that entice a reader,

an example from Optin Monster could be'

40 Belief-Shaking Remarks From a Ruthless Nonconformist

Write a headline that challenges the reader, dispels myths, or presents an unconventional opinion.

Did this work? 14,000 shares on Facebook has its own statement.

Another that created a record on Problogger was:

How to Quit Your Job, Move to Paradise and Get Paid to Change the World

Problogger

This one promises you an irresistible offer that attracted a huge audience

and there is more;

21 Settings, Techniques, and Rules All New Camera Owners Should Know

419,000 shares on Facebook might convince you to think more about your heading

and finally,

9 Things Managers Do That Makes Good Employees Quit

18,000 social shares

The heading difference

Many of the better headings contain a number ( a list) and the larger the number the greater the belief by the reader that you understand what you are talking about.

Some of this material has been gathered from Opt-in Monster a great source of further understanding the many elements required to attract like flypaper.

Alternate views on headlines

Like anything on the internet and world of bogging there is no exact science. Many have different ideas and thoughts. I use Yoast SEO pro as my writing guide and as I tidied up my post he yelled at me for using more than four words in a headline, shorten it up he said.
I also am a member of Wealthy Affiliate training program where they discuss this at length and with different ideas. If you are new to writing this is a great starting point to develop your own way of moving forward.

My conclusion on Headlines

This post has deliberately been left short because it is such an intense discussion that needs further reading for you to be successful.
Not just research but trial and error to come up with the perfect lines that attract readers and keep there attention. Optin Monster also have a free analysis tool that you can use when writing your new headline.
I have found this journey a joy as I embarked on researching the best headings that I could gather.

We all know that when someone searches a topic you have but a Nano second to gather that click and achieve a result you want.
That is why content is a long way second to your heading, if it's not clicked it's not read.

Finally it is also evident with all these headings they come with a great picture to assist the journey and we will cover that further in a future post.
