Senior at home jobs that anyone can do with a bit of time and energy to create a real occupation and keep the wolves from the door.
Let's clear up the Senior title first of all
Your initial question will probably be is this guy qualified to preach to us.
Firstly I am mid seventies, still working and blogging on the internet.
I have friends that are over eighty and doing the same thing plus grand kids selling on the internet at 15 years old, so I see a pretty wide range of opportunities.
Secondly I am not here to find you a job, I want to start you on a journey you will love.
Finally you have a choice of crosswords or creating and it is your call.
The best business is on the internet
The world has changed, it now revolves around being able to understand the virtual cloud and gathering the best opportunities you can.
My granddaughter makes earrings, she has a special niche on the market that is different to everyone else. Selling earrings is very competitive so how does she stand out from the crowd?
First of all she uses the internet to display her product, without a basic understanding of online she would never succeed but she does.
My wife on the other hand sells stuff for her daughters who work and don't have the time to play online.
That is pretty simple stuff using eBay or Etsy maybe Shopify or any of the selling platforms available.
Secondly you can go a step further and sell other peoples product. Places like Amazon are looking for online sellers all the time however you need a bit more training for this.
Finally we look at virtual products, the products you can't hold in your hand but people still buy, a good example is training courses. perhaps eBooks. web site hosting, online storage etc.
The internet can be a hobby or a business.
Indeed it can be both.
Be warned that there are as many crooks online as in the streets.
In fact the internet is full of scammers but worry not if you stay on the main road you will not get mugged too badly.
The bad guys tempt you with really good offers saying no experience needed while they sit beside a great car saying that you can have working an hour a day. It is a real business for them and they can take copious amounts of money from you.
However there are also some great opportunities but how do you tell one from the other?
Beware the scams.
Go back to school for a bit of education
Starting out where I had a successful business that needed a web page early in the period. I paid a bundle of money to get a site done that returned very little. I thought to myself this can't be all that hard so why don't you learn enough to tell people what you want.
I have a cupboard full of courses taken over time, the next website was a lot better because I knew what I wanted not what they were selling. When I finally landed at Wealthy Affiliate which is a web hosting site that gathers customers through affiliates. I will explain that further down but the important part is their training. At the price there is no better package on the internet.
However I have done it twice. The reason is that the first time I thought I knew it all so I skimmed the training and missed a lot of the videos. I soon realized that I could not answer the questions being asked of me. The solution was do it again and this time do it properly .
Everything revolves around web pages and yes you will need one so understand what you want before you start.
Senior at home jobs that anyone can do with a bit of support along the way.
Support is paramount to your success
I run a business from home and do all my work from a small office with a phone, a computer and some music.
The internet is pretty dynamic so one person can never know everything. In fact I always advocate cutting out a small piece and concentrating on that to achieve better success.
First of all it is difficult to get all round support and you may be working with different packages that you really want to tie together and this is where a support forum is necessary.
You can get bogged down for day's on the simplest problems unless you know who to ask.
The forum at Wealthy Affiliate is great because you have members that have done it all and want to payback to others. Importantly they have strict rules that don't allow marketing or disrespect in anyway. You will generally get several ideas to pursue and find out who is best to follow. Furthermore you can hear success and failure stories from the members as they share their experiences.
OH I forgot to tell you that Wealthy Affiliate is absolutely free to try out so you risk nothing.
They don't have a heap of up sells or cross sales just one annual fee than can be paid monthly.
Good support is essential.
When you gain knowledge choices will become obvious
By now you are probably thinking I have not mentioned any jobs that you can do, working from home in your later years.
You are correct because we all need some basic knowledge to give us any chance of success. My aim is to arm you with enough information so you make good choices on the internet.
We all have different strengths so we want to channel that in a specific direction.
The owner of Wealthy Affiliate said recently” You should do something you love not something you know”
If you are spending a lot of time on this it is easy to get bored or discouraged repeating a life time of learning. We want to stretch you and increase your knowledge while making it possible to earn a quid. The money comes later.
If you chase fast money taking shortcuts and paying your way you will lose interest and walk away well before you reach success.
Senior at home jobs that anyone can do laid out for you.
What are the great internet jobs
OK, enough of this, lets look at a few things that may interest you. Remember these are headings only and each can be expanded greatly.
Selling your own products | Things from around the house |
Then selling other peoples products | Those bits you buy |
Or selling virtual products | Training courses are an example |
Becoming an Affiliate marketer | Recommending other products |
Social media adviser | lots of choices here |
Email Marketing | Sending out mail |
Copywriter | Writing for money |
Blogger | Building a business |
Online shop | Shopify v Woocommerce |
No good at writing then don't be a blogger, thinking of Affiliate marketing then choose recurring income, selling is instant money.
Every one of these will provide you with an income once you achieve a certain level.
You can always change your mind later.
Start at the start and not halfway
I had a query this week from a Guy that said I can't understand all this domain and word stuff so how can I make some money?
My answer was simply to find something else to do.
You don't become a school teacher without learning or a carpenter without an apprenticeship
let alone becoming a doctor or nurse.
Every industry has a learning curve and If you don't want to do it then find a new idea to waste time on.
Pick one thing and work to the end
My Daughter chose Facebook marketing as a sole pursuit. However then she needed web pages and funnels to finish her target. She started with contracting through small local businesses and is now in a high paid advisor with a large business. About six months of daily schooling got her over the line. ( with Three kids a Husband and Dog).
You can do the same.
Senior at home jobs that anyone can do even you.
Can seniors learn all this internet stuff?
Yes you can learn to do anything on the internet, I have friends that are in their eighties writing books and blogs and having no problems.
One of my sayings is that if you can waste time doing a crossword why not put that effort into something productive.
It might not be all about money, you may just want to pass on your vast knowledge and help others achieve a new level of confidence.
On the right of this blog there will be a whole list of things that I have written about with subjects on a whole range of ideas to help small business, in fact I have written well over 300 blogs so I cover a huge range, Some of these are quite detailed on how to do things.
Conclusion on Seniors jobs
