I Felt Like a Dinosaur With a Laptop
There I was, in my seventies, trying to crack the code on building an online business. I’d spent hours staring at my screen, scrolling through tutorials that might as well have been written in hieroglyphs, and yelling at my poor cat every time something froze. By the time I finally hit “publish” on my first blog, I realized two things: I had no clue who my audience was, and I didn’t even enjoy the topic I wrote about. Brilliant start, huh?
The Dream That Kept Me Going
But here’s the thing: giving up wasn’t an option. The dream of traveling with my wife and our cat, stopping wherever we wanted, whenever we wanted, was too big to let go of. The idea of sipping coffee in a sunny beach town while working on something meaningful (without punching a clock) was the light at the end of my “tech tunnel.”
The Struggle Was Real
Still, I was stuck. Stuck in fear that I couldn’t figure this whole online thing out. Stuck in frustration that I wasn’t “getting it” as quickly as I wanted. and Stuck wondering if I was just too old for this game.
The Turning Point
But let me tell you something that no outdated tutorial ever taught me: you don’t have to figure it out alone. Once I found the right guide—someone who simplified everything and gave me real tools to succeed—it all started to click. I stopped second-guessing myself and started focusing on the things that mattered: connecting with people, creating content I enjoyed, and living the lifestyle I’d been dreaming about.
Living the Dream
Now, when my wife and I load up the computer, and our cat excitedly jumps on the desk, I think about how far I’ve come. No more staring at the screen feeling clueless. No more worrying I’m too “behind the times.” Just the joy of living life on our terms, wherever the road takes us.
Here’s the Lesson
It’s never too late to start. Whether you’re dreaming of exploring new places, creating something meaningful, or simply enjoying more freedom, there’s a path forward—you just need someone to show you the way.
