What is different with internet marketing this year and what can you do about it? We explore ways to have a massive difference in your sales
Why has marketing changed so much?
While nothing ever remains the same many changes are driven by others.
First of all Google owns the Internet for all intensive purposes. What they say goes so we really need to follow their lead.
Secondly we need to understand what changes are important and what will not affect us.
Then finally make the alterations to ensure we stay ahead of the game.
Game changer number one
The biggest surprise to me is that our old material needs to be updated. We blog away offering new material when in fact we can achieve a better result with change.
This simple fact is advocated by many of the top advisors to our industry.
In one such case Yoast SEO has incorporated a new plug-in for WordPress that allows you to mirror the material while you alter the script and then download the new version when you are ready. Therefore you are never off line however working on the upgrades as you go.
Then we move to changing for Voice search
It is a fact that voice search is taking a greater chunk of internet inquiries. Using mobile phones and tablets has become a way of life and keywords tend to have a much longer tail as you chat to Siri or the other nice ladies in the mobile network.
Indeed in a country that applies the death penalty (nearly anyway) for just touching a mobile when driving teaches you to utilise blue tooth more often.
However does this really affect how you write. In a recent survey by WordStream they listed the top requests by mature users, which, in all honesty, changed my ways.

Now, none of these requests are going to alter my writing because they don't come near my Niche.
Therefore this problem can be ignored until we have more change or greater need.
What is different with internet marketing this year in content.
The search engines are looking more at content
Whilst this has always held true the competition is now much keener so you need to be one step better.
My quick and easy reference point here is to say:
Just answer the question in the best way possible.

It is absolutely necessary that your headline and content match each other.
The closer the result the more likely you are to be picked by Google.
Therefore exact match is the working word of the year.
Setting out your content with short paragraph's, good headings and pictures plus a dab of colour will go along way to success.
Keywords never lose dominance

Over 30% of searches never go past the first free line on a Google search and a overwhelming majority not past page one so where do you sit?
You are not alone with this with many tools to help you find the words that have a chance of making page one. My main one is free with Wealthy Affiliate where you can establish both traffic and competition on any choice of words.
You need a good balance of the key inputs to increase your chance of being read. You will find this hard when you start however it will get easier over time if you spend the time to balance your references.
Above is the Jaaxy tool which is the same as offered on the Wealthy Affiliate site except the pro version takes it even further.
Another is Uber Suggest by Neil Patel a site I often reference from when doing comparisons.
Keywords need as much research as you can because they are the ultimate decider on whether you make page one or one hundred.
The use of Audio and Video is now necessary

YouTube is searched nearly as often as Google for many terms. Therefore half the people are going to other search platforms than where we expect.
Certainly, where is, How to, best way searches are very high on the list. Unlike voice searches video is able to be incorporated into your main site.
You can add a link and even embed your video to make your blog stand out more.
There is an added advantage when people click on the video it increases your time open and improves your SEO
Audio channels have seen a lot of growth for those well known public figures or with a big following. I would not pursue this too strongly until you are well established.
Making a Video has become a daily opportunity with iPhones and iPads and simply saving them to a YouTube channel.
Your Headline and Meta will make a difference
It is one thing being found in a search it is another thing being read among the choices offered on page one.
Your headline needs to clearly explain your content and the Meta description is there to excite them with a promise to deliver a solution.
This is an important part of the foundation required to be read and read often.
I use WordPress with a MonsterInsights plug-in to review my headlines. There are things you must do to increase your chances of being read and this is a great one.

This is just the tip of the information provided by the Monster and is an absolute must have.
That brings me to analytics
Knowing where you are and what is working is necessary. Whilst Google analytics free service really tells it all the MonsterInsights plug-in delivers the results in a way that you can quickly monitor.
Change is consistent therefore knowing what to change is a critical factor in monitoring results.
Conclusion to what is different with internet marketing this year
The whole internet arena is dynamic and being on top of changes as they come is really important. I have also offered a couple of areas that others may push and my reasons for ignoring them into the New Year.
Take the good and run with it using tools and analysis to support your decisions based on facts and not fads.

Blogging is an artistic pursuit
Great article with some excellent tips also. If you want to make sales, you need to rank, if you want to rank high you need to play by the rules and you have set these out very clearly here in your post. I struggle a little at times with headlines so will look into the Monster Insights plug-in you use. This could be of great help.
Please keep the great posts coming, and I look forward to reading the next one, well done.
Thanks Dave,
I just love the tool at MI trying to Match it with keywords to get a good balance.
Kind regards
