Should I include a YouTube video in my post

Should I include a YouTube video in my post or does that just take readers away? here we share the benefits of time on the page

YouTube is a great tool for blog writers

Your own Video is preferable but any video will do the trick. Google admits that they like YouTube in posts because it attracts readers to stay on the page and they seek further authority input on the subject.

Whilst the effect is the same demonstrating what the video is about will certainly have benefits. The aim is to get clicks because we know that once on youTube they will hang around for a while looking at other exciting opportunities.
The time readers spend on your page is a major factor in Google Analytics. The more time spent the greater the interest.

Google's user intent demands page time

Google has moved away from exact match keywords to look at what the reader really wants not particularly what they search for. Evidently, robots know more than we do.

However, if you achieve every Google goal but get no visitors or page time you will be demoted

I have highlighted this because it is so important, Google will only promote pages that people read, and if that is not yours you will go down the slippery slope to page 20 or more.
Therefore having a Video or suitable link to another page will help your page gather time.

Shorts and reels are the new fodder for those wanting to waste time on video, or should I say learn new things. They work by giving you page time to gain more google love.

Your YouTube choice must be appropriate to the subject

The purpose behind YouTube is to;

  • Gain screen time
  • Advance our authority

Therefore if you were writing about Basketball it would serve no purpose to have videos on Archery. However, the Michael Jordan
highlights may be appropriate. A training video on a subject in your writing would be even more appropriate.

    Keywords are critical

Like anything on the internet, the use of keywords is critical to success. Use similar words to your page/Post in your YouTube search
So that you stay on the song. If you are doing your own videos link back to your post as well. The more time your keywords are searched the greater your traffic

    Using the page saving click

When you link to another site or page in your blog or website you have an option that says:

Should I include a YouTube video in my post

This is a WordPress option other pages may vary.

Clicking the Open in a new tab button keeps your reader on the page. If for example they go off and spend time on YouTube and this is not clicked then they will simply log out when they are finished. However, if clicked they will return to your page to continue reading and hence page time continues.
The other two options are also important to consider and to tell Google what the new page is about.

Use Videos on your Facebook and Instagram pages as well

    Conclusion

Video is searched nearly as often as Google and has a greater degree of page time so not using it would be wrong.
