How can a pet help with blogging?
Many of you will find a lot of comfort with a dog resting beside you or a cat asleep on the Keyboard.
Any company that does not interfere with your work is good company.
They don't answer back but understand all too well that your work will be subjected to blasphemy at times but who are they to criticize.
They can be a welcomed intervention when they demand attention taking your thought process in a whole new direction.
How finding a Niche found an animal.
First of all, I am more of a cat person than a doggy type. There is no good reason other than cats need so little care whilst dogs are ever demanding.
That aside when you start a blogging career the first thing you do is try and find a Niche. The training at Wealthy Affiliate will take you there and explain it all. But, not having a clue what I wanted to write about I chose a Cat tail.
My reasons for this were to discover just where blogging would take me and if I could survive in the busy world of writing.
It was never meant to be commercial and represented a Hobby more than a career.
I chose a free website and Hosting to run an experiment
I was unsure of blogging and in fact, thought it was really overdone and that it could never work for me. But I wanted the experience.
Enter KatieHan.
Katie was my real cat. Adopted from a shelter and enjoying a life of luxury in her new home. This was my inspiration.
HTTP://katiehan.siterubix.com As I said above a free service and hosting in a Wealthy Affiliate trial. There was nothing to lose.
I did not know what I was doing other than following the training I had done. Then I Completed a couple of pages and wrote a few blogs to get things going.
Finally, I added a Facebook page to attract readers and get it all moving.
This is all textbook training so it is easy to do.
Do your pets help with blogging and how do they do that
Pets make our day. The love is unconditional and they provide a level of support like nothing else. There are a lot of pet lovers so to use them as a target is ideal.
Facebook worked well
I soon developed a following on Facebook and built to about 3500 followers that regularly chipped in. The Facebook page was all about rescue cats and with a focus on cuteness.
So at this stage I have;
- Found a Niche with a wide circle of Interest
- Broken the niche down into a sub-niche. Rescue cats
- Chosen a free website URL katiehan.siterubix.com
- This is hosted for free at Wealthy Affiliate.
- Chosen a theme and added a picture
- Written my front page and a few blog sites
- Set up a Facebook page to attract readers
- Posted to Facebook regularly and built a following.
- Wrote a few posts
Was it good? Not really. Does it need attention four years later? Sure does. Did it work? Yes, it did, surprisingly well in fact until I tried to monetize it.
We did a really great desk calendar full of cat photos that we gave to family and friends. I added links to Amazon and other affiliate sites that created no traffic.
Then I got bored with the whole idea. The reason is that I was doing something out of interest and not something I was passionate about.
The blog has stood unattended for three years.
Others that choose animals
I have a friend that writes a daily column on his adventures. The blog dogs are a feature of his work. This is all based in Texas along with the ever-present cat simply named Kitty. An intriguing tale about very little except for his broken romance and a weather forecast.
Jeff Brown the blogdog affiliate
Jeff is also a Veteran, a locksmith, a writer and a great bloke.
Why am I telling you all this?
First of all to show you how cheap and easy it is to learn to be a blogger. I was raw but I wanted to explore the possiblilities. It was way out of my comfort zone. But I persevered until I was prepared to set forth on my own journey. The blog you are reading now.
Time makes a better blogger. There is a lot to learn and remember plus people like Google keep changing the rules.
Finally pets are a really good subjects as well as companions. Most of the world love pets and the others we don't care about. Therefore if you are looking for a Niche there is no better place than the Pet Yard.
Take your pet to the blogging experience
You can write about them, set up Facebook and Instagram stories and write blogs with stories that capture the imagination.
Perhaps just have them sit beside you and put up with the moaning as you find another mistake.
But most of all keep them in your life.
Conclusion
In the years following my Katiehan post she was taken from us following incurable cancer .
Katie now lives under the bed forever remembered.
Time heals all grief and we had to take another ride to the Cat haven, another Sad rescue a big boy called Humphrey. We chose a mature cat because we are both elderly and don't want a pet to outlive us and be someone elses responsibility.
Humpy took awhile to settle but has now fully adopted us and shares his love equally between my wife and self.
His presence took me to the past and to reserect the Katiehan blog.
It can also be an impetus for you to try blogging and enjoy the experience.
Do a bit of training, pick a subject and write your first blog and the adventure starts.
